“I love your body”
You said these words
earlier today
and they’ve been
racing through
my mind
all day
A marathoner
competing
with similar words
sprinting to the finish line
that is my brain
Am I hearing you?
I def think so.
Being with you.
Listening to you.
Wanting you
more and more.
You love my body?
Man I love yours.
Countless poems
have been written about
your brown skin
melting between my
overheated tan lines
while we do what
we do.
Countless mornings
rushing to your side
To do what we do
Be the first things
we do
First beings we see
In unison
we scream.
I remember
our first night
illuminated by the
tv screen
and the overcast
of your orange
flourescent lights
I undressed
in the
blushing heat
of disbelief
that somehow
our friendship
lead to this
“Damn E.”
There it goes.
“You look like you could be in King.”
Yup.
Those words are still standing there.
Looping around my head.
Coming back
to me
at moments like today
when you
say
“I love your body.”
I love my body
either way.
I do value what
you’ve taught me.
I’ve grown to
appreciate my
breasts.
A new found love
for what was once
just an annoyance.
I hope I can
instill the feelings
you make me feel
in you.
I admire the contrast of our lengths.
I like your lean body.
I love the feeling of your chest against mine.
Your hands against my thighs.
Your lips on my back.
A twist and a stack
of moments we have
laying on top of the sheets
talking about any and everything
Your arms wiggled over here next to mine.
Spine to chest combine.
I love what you consider
a skinny body.
I enter the room
and see you lying
there
bare
and smiling
to myself
because
soon I’ll be right beside
that
“skinny body”.
Grabbing
your arms
Running
my fingers
over your abdominal
muscles
Finding your thighs
A movie
played over
and over in
my head.
Where mouths go
Where hands go
Where bodies meet
Same movie
different plot
and the
film is still rolling
